Does the Past affect the Present, and How

By : Naser Naser

The past most definitely effects the present in a countless number of ways. Without the past we would have nothing to improve on in the present. The past was the birth of all the objects and things that we have enhanced to be better for our needs in the present.

An example of how the past is very important towards the present is the development of the iPhone over the course of its years. Today we look down on the old iPhone's such as the iPhone 4 and 5, but if it wasn't for those early phones, than there would have been no further improvement of thought into the phone.

Another example that clearly shows how the past affects the present is the concept of habits and hobbies. If you have experienced something and began to make a habit of it, its because what you have acknowledged yourself about has affected you and made you change into something new in the present. Therefore if you began to start a hobby and play a sport at a young age in the past, then in the present that hobby make play a large role in your life and may even have a career in it.

  1. The bottom part is definitely true for me. My grandmother used to show me tons of Disney movies & videos growing up (prior to age 5). I can only remember "bits & pieces" of this, but i am certain that this is what started my love & obsession for Disney.

The part about the iPhones is also true about many other products/companies/industries, such as Animation. Look at how far animation has come since "Snow White" (1937) to "Moana' (2016) or "Cars 3" (2017).

    1. I understand your idea on, for examples movies and how their plots have changed overtime and how the quality of the movie itself have changed overtime.

  2. I can most definitely agree with, "Without the past we would have nothing to improve on in the present." One could even go as far as to say that without the past, the present is basically useless or non-existent. As humans, we use the past to better ourselves and learn. If we didn't learn from the past, then we would all basically be barbarians running around.
